flowers for friday ~ a bouquet of hope

if we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children
- Mahatma Gandhi

a number of years ago ... actually right after our children were born, we realized how blessed we were to be raising our children here ...

it was a time when we also realized that gift giving between adults at christmas had really gotten out of hand ...

it was then that we began sponsoring a child through world vision ... we began with our whole family doing so, and then my brother and his wife began sponsoring their own child ...

this little boy, our child who lives in a remote area of india, has been with us for years now (this photo is a few years old ~ i am sorry i could not locate the first image when he was oh so small) ...

we have watched him grow and grow and look forward to seeing his progress reports which also tells us how his family and village are doing ...

when we received this, his latest photo of him holding a beautiful, beautiful bouquet of flowers ... well, i weep every time i see it as to me there couldn't really be a more beautiful bouquet in the world ... a bouquet of hope that this young person has blossomed from a young child into a young man ...

it makes me smile so to see him stretch up ... to have that tall, gangly skinny-ness of a teenager, just like our boys here!

i am so happy for him and hope that his life will continue to grow in the best way possible ...

and i hope and pray i can hug him tight someday in person and let him know what a gift he is to us ...
