flowers for friday ~ the dirt

here's the dirt ...

to get things growing ...

it begins with taking the overflowing compost bowl ...

tossed onto the mounds and mounds of composting matter ...

underneath are layers of leaves, grass clippings, veggie scraps, last summer's flower pot earth ...

rich in nourishing nutrients ... itty bitty micro-organisms ... and all round goodness ...

wonders of wonders how all this matter sits in a frozen mass throughout the winter ...

just waiting for the sun and warm spring airs to get it cooking ...

bringing it to life ...

teeming with earth worms ...

miraculously turning it into gold ...

black . moist . rich . deep earth smelling . gold dirt ...

to feed the seeds ...

to get them rooting ...

to bring us beauty ...

sigh.

i love mother nature.

for breathtakingly beautiful roses, slip over to rose notes where artist / gardener / photographer carolyn has one magnificent compost cooking ... in fact, i love her post on compost!

thanks to kim, who linked me to bloom, where camilla is interviewing carolyn ...

love abounds as we wait for the earth to stir ~
