firsts and lasts

ever since our children were wee i have displayed works of art by shirley lloyd-davies of dundee designs as colourful and cheerful reminders of the joys and privilege of parenting ...

and sixteen years ago i began taking 'first day of school' pictures ...

and four years later, the tradition continued ...

the race for the ride on the big yellow bus ...

this and other inspiring pieces of shirley's sit just by the boys' basket and backpack area in the kitchen ... also reminding me of the day that all the watering and tending would be so they would grow and grow ...

and confidently take flight to a dream career (right after some toast with mom's jelly!) ...

and boldly take on the 'last' first day of school (driving their own car ~ no racing to the bus this morning!) ...

one of my favourite joys of parenting was reading books to the boys ...
i couldn't help myself recently and bought this one ... you're all my favorites ~ a beautiful story by sam mcbratney and sweetly illustrated by anita jeram ~ simply to have and hold and read as it reminds me of our three little bears and how individual they are ... do you suppose they will let me read this to them tonight? wink.
guess how much i love you by sam mcbratney is one of my all time favourites ...

their dad and i are so blessed ... so proud ...

a time to embrace the many more 'firsts' to come!

i wish and pray for children everywhere to receive education and more importantly ... love ...
