flowers for friday ~ naturally

naturally ~ in a natural manner, without special help or intervention.

today i bring you prairie roadside wildflowers ~ naturally ...

from a distance, you don't notice the flowers on this, our prairie road that i walk each day ...

so you have to slow down ... slow right down ... walk among them and get up close ...

(clicking on the images will get you much closer)

long fruited anemone ~ anemone cylindrica
the flower is tiny and white ~ this photo depicts the 'going to seed' stage ...

dotted blazing star ~ liatris punctata

prairie rose ~ rosa arkansana

stiff goldenrod ~ solidago rigida

goldenrod ~ there are about a bazillion varieties of goldenrod!
sorry, i wasn't able to secure the botanical name for it, but i do know that the crop in the background is wheat ...

these are only but a few of the stunningly beautiful wildflowers that grace our ditches and roadsides ~ if you fancy, you may find more here in this extensive listing with brilliant images (saskatchewan is right next door to manitoba so geographically the botany of our regions is very similar) ... my images lack the vivid colour, but i think you get the idea!

mmm ... i think we all know that actually there is a whole lot of divine intervention going on here ... thanks be to god.

happy friday,
prairiegirl xo
