three minutes til showtime!

what are you up to this weekend? maybe a movie under the stars?

my first experience was when i was about 11 and my brother and his girlfriend ~ now my sister-in-law took me to see patton (1970). i think i was more enthralled with the whole experience than the movie itself ... the funny parking ...

... those heavy lead speakers that i was sure would break the window ... the tinny sound ... the tempting treats at the snack-bar ... that super large screen with the dark night sky behind ... the graphics and anticipation of waiting til the 'feature presentation'! i probably fell asleep (probably much to the relief of my brother  ~ can you imagine?)

thanks to ki at junkcamp for getting these memories going today with her images of the beverly drive-in theatre in hattiesburg, mississippi.

many of our local drive-in theatres have sadly faded to black ... except for the shamrock drive-in at killarney, manitoba ... still rocking ... an hour and a half away!

i couldn't find any images of the shamrock to share ... but if you are close to dallas, texas the galaxy drive-in theatre has quite a line-up for you this weekend ... first feature tonight starts at 6:30!

fun graphics at the galaxy tempting you to dippin' dots shack ...

i think i love this graphic most ... any drive-in stories to share?
do tell ...

on with the show ... pass the twizzlers please!
